Getting a new roof is a significant home improvement project, but it doesn't have to be stressful. When you know what to expect, the process is smooth from start to finish. Here's a step-by-step breakdown of what happens when Sure Claim Roofing replaces your roof.

Before the Job Starts

Once materials are ordered and a date is confirmed, we'll give you a heads-up so you can prepare. We recommend moving vehicles out of the driveway, covering or moving patio furniture, and securing any items near the house that could be affected by debris.

Day One: Tear-Off

The crew arrives early, usually around 7 or 8 AM, and begins tearing off the old roofing material. This is the loudest part of the job. It generates a significant amount of debris, which we collect with tarps and haul off as we go. Your gutters will be protected.

Deck Inspection and Repairs

Once the old roofing is removed, we inspect the wood deck underneath. If we find any rotted or damaged decking, we'll notify you before replacing it. This is a normal part of the process on older homes.

Installation: Underlayment, Flashing, and Shingles

New roofing is installed in layers: first a moisture barrier (underlayment), then metal flashing around penetrations (chimneys, vents, valleys), and finally the roofing material itself. We install everything to manufacturer specification to preserve your warranty, whether you've chosen asphalt shingles or metal roofing.

Cleanup

At the end of each day, and especially at the end of the job, we do a thorough cleanup. We use a magnetic roller to pick up nails from the yard, driveway, and landscaped areas. You shouldn't find nails.

Final Walkthrough

Before we leave, we do a final inspection together. We'll walk the perimeter, show you the completed work, and answer any questions. You'll also receive all warranty documentation.
